All drivers and at least one parent or guardian of minor drivers must attend the Driver’s Meeting. There may be kid kart and rookie training sessions held at the end of the driver’s meeting and attendance at these training sessions is also mandatory for specified drivers. Failure to attend a driver’s meeting will result in the absent competitor starting at the end of the field for their feature race. Competitor must still participate in qualifying and/or heat races. Generators must be turned off during Driver’s Meetings. RACE RULES FLAGS Flags per WKA – NOTE: When caution flag is displayed, the whole track is immediately under caution. The race will revert back to the last completed lap for single file restarting. No one will race back to the finish line, you must slow down to a safe speed and you must stay in your position at the time of the caution to allow the Flagman to restart the race. RACING BACK TO THE CAUTION FLAG OR PASSING A COMPETITOR DURING A CAUTION FOR POSITION IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED AND IS CAUSE FOR OFFENDING DRIVER TO BE SENT TO THE REAR OF THE FIELD OR DISQUALIFIED AS DETERMINE BY ODKS OFFICIAL. PASSING A competitor must always be prepared for another competitor to pass and must therefore be on the lookout for the approach from behind of other, faster karts. The deliberate blocking of a faster vehicle is cause for offending driver to be sent to the rear of the field or disqualified as determined by ODKS official. Any foul driving, unnecessary bumping, crowding, chopping, blocking or un-sportsmanlike conduct on the track is cause for offending driver to be sent to the rear of the field, disqualified, or suspended as determined by ODKS official. When two karts are entering a turn together, the kart that is behind, whether it be an inch or several feet, is required to negotiate the turn without endangering or impairing the progress of the kart in front. Conversely, the kart in front should not take a deliberate course for the reason of crowding a following competitor off the track. If any component of the kart becomes deranged so that, in the opinion of an ODKS official, it is unsafe or illegal, the kart will be removed from the track by being black flagged. If in the opinion of ODKS officials the defect cannot be repaired properly, the kart will be retired from the race. When the checkered flag is shown ending the race, all karts will proceed to the scales for weight check. DRIVERS CANNOT HAVE FOOD, DRINK OR ANYTHING ON THEIR PERSON THAT WAS NOT THERE DURING THE RACE, UNTIL WEIGHT CHECK IS COMPLETED. INSPECTION PROCEDURES In addition to pre-race inspection, all karts are subject to a technical inspection after each race at the discretion of the ODKS officials. Any driver failing tech will receive last place points based on a minimum 10-car field (i.e., 10th place points if fewer than 10 competitors in a class) – this finish cannot be used as a throwaway. A second offense will result in driver receiving no points for the respective event and a 1-race suspension for the next event held. A third offense will result in loss of all points for the season and a suspension from the series for one calendar year. Non-performance related DQ’s will be handled on an as per basis at the discretion of ODKS officials. Provided a minimum of 8 races is held by ODKS throughout the season. ODKS reserves the right to eliminate the throwaway if less than 8 races are able to be held during the season. PROTESTS All protest must be submitted to the ODKS Promoter within 10 minutes following the respective competition. The decisions of the ODKS Promoter/Official decision are final. Only a driver who finishes in the winner’s circle can be subject to an engine protest, which requires a TEARDOWN. The winner’s circle will consist of the top 5 finishers in each class or as determined by the ODKS Promoter. Only a finisher within the winner’s circle may protest an engine. For example, a 5th place finisher can protest the 2nd place finisher. Anyone finishing 6th on back cannot file an engine protest. The protester will provide a protest fee of $150.00. If the engine is determined to be legal, $75.00 of the protest fee will be awarded to the kart/engine owner the balance goes to ODKS. If the engine is illegal, the $150.00 protest fee will be returned to the protester and a $75.00 fine will be assessed to driver/kart owner (if driver is a minor) of the illegal kart. If driver/kart owner (if driver is a minor) fails to pay fine, an immediate suspension will be assessed to the driver. If it is determined by an ODKS Official that it is necessary to tear down an engine based on standard post-race tech findings and the engine is determined to be illegal, a $75.00 fine will be assessed to driver/kart owner (if driver is a minor) of the illegal kart. If driver/kart owner (if driver is a minor) fails to pay fine, and immediate suspension will be assessed to the driver. If ODKS elects to tears an engine down and it is found to be legal, a credit for the driver’s next entry fee will be placed in their file. This is to help with rebuild costs. ODKS reserves the right to make any rule changes deemed necessary during the course of the season.
